In Iran, he roamed the street with his wife's severed head

There has been a nationwide reaction to the alleged "honour killing" of a woman in Iran at the hands of her husband. The woman's husband was walking on the streets with her severed head. People are strongly criticizing Iran's judicial system. In the city of Ahvaz in southwestern Iran, a man has killed his 17-year-old wife by beheading her. After this, the person kept walking on the streets of Iran with that severed head in his hand. Its pictures and video footage have gone viral on social media. On Thursday, Iran's prosecutors said the man and his brother had been arrested in connection with the murder and would now face trial soon.

Along with this, the media has now been banned from printing his picture or showing the video. The name of the woman who died is Mona Haydri and her husband's name is Sajjad Haydri. At the age of 12, Mona was married off to her relative's brother, Sajjad, and that too without her consent. Unconfirmed reports have revealed that she was subjected to a lot of torture in her in-laws' house and wanted a divorce from her husband. He has a two-year-old son and because of that Mona continued to suffer oppression in that house. Some time ago she had fled from Iran to Turkey but came back after difficulties in living there alone.

Only then did Sajjad kill him. Sajjad, along with his brother, tied his hands and then beheaded him. After burying the torso, he walked on the streets of Ahvaz laughing with his severed head in one hand and a dagger in the other. The police has also said that there is a rivalry between the two families behind this incident. It is not yet clear whether the woman's husband and his brother will be tried for murder or for the alleged "honour killing". A large section of Iran's population considers honor killing to be justified.
